Well you finally got here !

Welcome to Stream320.dyndns.org the home of stereo online radio.

This is an experimental service designed for testing and trialing Internet Radio technologies.  Yep it is a sandbox but one that can be used for building completed solutions.

The streaming technology is based upon the use of a Raspberry Pi 2, 3 or 4 as the analogue stream encoder using an Audio Injector Zero sound card.  The stream encoder being used is Darkice currently running on a Raspberry Pi 2.

The encoded audio is fed as 320Kps MP3 encoded audio stream to another Raspberry Pi 3 computer that uses Icecast as the stream server.

DYNDNS is used to provide DNS hosting.

The network connection to the Internet is a 100/20Mbps Fibre to the Premise service. So the available uplink bandwidth to the internet is 20Mbps.  With an uplink bandwidth of 20Mbps  the total mnumber of concurrent streams would be around 62, however it is doubtful that an ISP supplied router would have the switching bandwidth to sustain this throughput.

A more realistic throughput might be in the order of 20 to 30 concurrent streams.  So far we have not managed to get anywhere near that..... more like 4 to 5 concurrent streams !
